
Lieutenant General (Retired) Arif Hasan has officially stepped down from his position as the President of the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) after serving in the role for over 19 years. Hasan, who was initially elected as President of POA in March 2004, confirmed his resignation through a letter dated December 28, 2023.
In the resignation letter, Hasan stated, “I am writing to formally resign as the President of the Pakistan Olympic Association, effective January 1, 2024.” He further explained that the decision to step down was not made lightly, emphasizing the need to balance his health and well-being with the demands of leading such a dynamic and impactful organization.
Hasan expressed hope for understanding and respect regarding his decision, assuring a smooth transition for the continuity of the POA’s excellent work. He conveyed his sincere wish for the POA to continue thriving and excelling, building on the solid foundation established during his tenure.
