A court in Karachi has issued arrest warrants for popular social media influencer Sahil Adeem over the use of offensive language against the state. The court has ordered that Adeem be presented before it on September 24.
The arrest warrant follows a resolution submitted to the Sindh Assembly Secretariat condemning Adeem’s derogatory remarks about women during a recent appearance on a private TV show. The resolution, introduced by PPP lawmaker Marvi Faseeh, criticized Adeem for his offensive comments, which she described as a violation of religious, social, and legal values, causing widespread distress among women.
During the TV show, Adeem claimed that 95% of women in the country were “jahil” (ignorant) and defended his statement when confronted by a female audience member, sparking widespread backlash. Among those criticizing him was lawyer Jibran Nasir, who called out Adeem for his conduct during the show.
The resolution demanded strict legal action against Adeem, arguing that his remarks violated the dignity of women and representatives like Marvi Faseeh in the Sindh Assembly.
