A low-pressure area over the Southeast Arabian Sea has intensified into a well-marked low-pressure area (WML) and is expected to develop into a Depression by Sunday, according to an advisory from Pakistan’s Meteorological Department on Saturday.

The system has moved westward and is currently located near Latitude 17.0 N and Longitude 66.5 E in the central Arabian Sea, approximately 900 kilometers south of Karachi. The Met Office forecasts that favorable environmental conditions will further strengthen the system as it moves west or northwest in the coming days.

At this stage, none of Pakistan’s coastal areas are expected to be affected by the weather system, according to the advisory. “PMD’s cyclone warning center, Karachi is monitoring the system and will issue updates accordingly,” the Met Office added.

The low-pressure area initially formed over the Southeast Arabian Sea near Latitude 17.0 N and Longitude 72.0 E, about 1,000 kilometers southeast of Karachi.
