Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi arrived in Lahore on Tuesday, embarking on a significant visit that commenced with a solemn tribute at Mazar-i-Iqbal. Welcomed by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz at Lahore Airport, President Raisi was joined by Maryam Aurangzeb and Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Uzma Bukhari.
At Mazar-i-Iqbal, President Raisi paid his respects and recited Fatiha, marking a moment of reverence at the revered shrine. A guard of honor was accorded to him by the armed forces of Punjab Rangers within the shrine’s premises.
During his stay in Lahore, President Raisi is scheduled to engage with Punjab’s leadership and attend a luncheon hosted by Governor Balighur Rehman. As Lahore observes a public holiday, several roads have been closed as part of heightened security measures, impacting the functioning of courts and educational institutions. However, departments affiliated with the Punjab Civil Secretariat remain operational.
Following his visit to Lahore, President Raisi will proceed to Karachi, where he will pay respects at Mazar-e-Quaid and hold meetings with officials. Additionally, he will be bestowed with an honorary doctorate at Karachi University, highlighting the significance of his visit to Pakistan.
