KPK CM Sohail Afridi: Imran Khan’s Eyesight at 10-15%

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi expressed deep concern at a recent press conference, stating that Imran Khan’s vision is limited to only 10 to 15 percent, and urged the public not to remain idle given this critical state of his leader. At the Supreme Court in Islamabad, along with Aleema Khan, Chief Minister Afridi made it clear that if the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa decide to shut down the province, neither provincial institutions nor the police will intervene.

CM Afridi further emphasized that even party leadership would be unable to contain PTI supporters under such circumstances. He pointed out that when Imran Khan was taken to the hospital for a medical procedure on January 24, his family remained unaware of his whereabouts until afterward.

The Supreme Court had reserved its decision in Toshakhana criminal case, ordering an eye examination for Imran Khan who remains in Adiala Jail. A bench presided by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi held the petition against Imran and Bushra Bibi’s trial on Thursday. The court, after hearing arguments, decided to issue a suitable order.

During these proceedings, Barrister Salman Safdar presented a report about PTI founder Khan’s health conditions. The report noted that Imran was satisfied with his safety measures, food provision, and security arrangements in jail. He recommended the medical examination be conducted with a family member present. However, the court rejected this request, instead instructing a team of doctors to conduct the check-up by February 16.

The court also directed that certain books be provided for Imran’s reading and allowed him to speak on the phone with his children before that date as well. The attorney general assured implementation of all judicial orders.

Just days earlier, the Supreme Court had appointed Barrister Salman as amicus curiae to assess the health condition and facilities of imprisoned Imran Khan, following an appeal from PTI lawyers seeking a quick meeting.

This series of events has underscored growing tensions within Pakistan’s political landscape. As Imran Khan’s condition continues to deteriorate, his party’s loyalty to him remains at risk, while the judiciary grapples with how to proceed in these high-stakes cases.
