In a resounding victory at the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) elections in Lahore on Tuesday, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif clinched the presidency unopposed, marking a significant moment in the party’s leadership landscape.

Addressing supporters, Nawaz Sharif asserted, “Saqib Nisar’s decision to remove me from the party’s presidency has been nullified today,” reflecting on his reinstatement and dispelling past challenges.

Recalling his disqualification, Nawaz attributed it to his refusal to draw a salary from his son, underscoring his principles despite adversity. He praised Shehbaz for steadfastly fulfilling his duties during Nawaz’s absence, highlighting their unyielding bond amidst attempts to sow discord.

Acknowledging his daughter Maryam’s resilience during her incarceration, Nawaz lauded party loyalists who endured imprisonment, affirming their unwavering commitment.

Reflecting on his previous tenure, Nawaz lamented missed opportunities, attributing national challenges to his removal in 1990 and alleging conspiracies, notably the ‘London plan’ orchestrated by Imran Khan and the establishment.

Encouraging supporters to unite for the party’s rejuvenation, Nawaz deemed it a duty to Pakistan, rallying enthusiasm for his leadership.

The election proceedings were met with fervor as PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah declared Nawaz Sharif’s presidency amid resounding approval from supporters, signaling a unified stance behind the veteran leader.

Anticipating Sharif’s return to the helm, PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal expressed optimism, envisioning the party’s resurgence under his leadership, even likening it to an “atomic power.”

With a resolution passed on April 27 endorsing Sharif’s presidency, the stage is set for a new chapter in PML-N’s journey, poised to navigate political currents under Nawaz Sharif’s seasoned guidance.
