To safeguard merchant vessels navigating the Indian Ocean, Pakistan Navy has deployed its warship PNS ASLAT, along with an embarked helicopter, to ensure the safety and security of shipments to and from Pakistani ports.
According to a statement by the Directorate General Public Relations (Pakistan Navy), the deployment of PNS ASLAT aims to uphold the safety and security of international shipping in the region. The ship will conduct independent operations as well as collaborate with friendly and partner nations to achieve mutual objectives of maritime safety and security.
Additionally, PNS ASLAT will engage in Naval Diplomatic tasks at regional ports in alignment with Pakistan’s foreign policy goals. Equipped with advanced weapons and sensors, the ship is capable of conducting various maritime operations in diverse environments.
The Pakistan Navy remains dedicated to ensuring freedom of navigation on the high seas and the safety of international sea lanes. Recognizing its responsibility to uphold a rule-based order at sea, the Navy regularly deploys its warships on Regional Maritime Security Patrols (RMSP) and contributes to collaborative maritime security efforts.
