Following the federal government’s recent announcement of a reduction in electricity rates for April, authorities are poised to provide additional relief to consumers next month through potential reductions in electricity bills.
A petition has been filed with the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) seeking to reduce the fuel cost adjustment from Rs2.94 to Rs4.92 per unit for May, as stated by the Ministry of Power Division.
If approved, consumers could see a significant reduction of Rs4.12 per unit in their electricity bills for May compared to March.
The power tariff for April was already reduced from Rs4.92 to Rs7.6 per unit compared to March, reflecting ongoing efforts by the government to alleviate the financial burden on consumers.
Minister for Power Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari reiterated the government’s commitment to passing on the benefits of reduced fuel prices to the people.
