The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, has accepted an invitation from U.S. President Donald J. Trump to attend the inaugural session of the Board of Peace (BOP) in Washington D.C., which is scheduled for February 19th, 2026.
Prime Minister Sharif will be joined by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, alongside a team of ministers and other senior officials. The event will mark the start of the BOP, an initiative aimed at fostering dialogue on peace and security among nations.
During his visit, the Pakistani leader is expected to engage with U.S. leaders, including President Trump himself, as well as counterparts from various countries participating in the meeting. This gathering promises to provide a platform for discussing bilateral issues and global concerns of mutual interest.
The BOP’s inaugural session offers a significant opportunity for Pakistan to strengthen its ties with the United States and other nations at a pivotal moment in geopolitics. The discussions expected to take place will touch upon areas such as regional stability, economic cooperation, and the challenges posed by emerging threats both within and beyond their borders.
As the representatives prepare for this crucial meeting, observers note that it could serve as a catalyst for positive progress in U.S.-Pakistan relations since Sharif took office. The inaugural session is set to be an important chapter in the ongoing partnership between Pakistan and the United States, with significant implications for both countries’ future policies and initiatives.
The participation of Prime Minister Sharif marks his third official trip abroad this year, following visits to India and Japan earlier this month. These engagements reflect Pakistan’s strategic pivot towards strengthening diplomatic ties across Asia-Pacific and the broader Middle East region.
