In a media address from Adiala Jail on Tuesday, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) stressed the imperative need for holding general elections on February 8, asserting that they should proceed “at any cost.”
During the statement, the PTI founder revealed, “I had invited Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to join the PTI in 2018.” Expressing concern, he stated, “Our candidates are geared up for their election campaigns, but we are facing hindrances in conducting them.” He went on to declare that the party is prepared to change the tickets of candidates who fail to actively participate in the election campaign.
Meanwhile, PTI leader Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, in a message to foreign media on Sunday, called for a ceasefire, citing the founder’s instructions to negotiate with all parties. However, he acknowledged existing challenges, citing a lack of trust and communication for meaningful negotiations. Emphasizing the need to mend relationships, Gohar expressed his party’s trust in the Supreme Court.
As political tensions rise, the PTI leadership appears committed to both electoral demands and diplomatic efforts, setting the stage for a critical period leading up to the proposed February 8 elections.
