A delegation from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) convened with United States Ambassador Donald Blome on Monday to discuss a wide range of issues pertinent to the bilateral relationship between the two nations.
According to a statement from the US Embassy, Ambassador Blome met with Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub Khan, to address various matters including US support for ongoing economic reforms, human rights, and regional security concerns.
Ambassador Blome emphasized the significance of long-term reforms for fostering sustainable economic growth and ensuring a stable and secure future for the people of Pakistan. He reiterated Washington’s support for Islamabad’s engagement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to advance its reform agenda.
Additionally, the US Ambassador highlighted the mutual interests shared by both countries and the opportunities to collaborate on initiatives such as climate change projects under the Green Alliance framework.
The meeting was attended by other PTI leaders including party Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Asad Qaiser, and Raoof Hassan.
PTI leader Omar Ayub confirmed that the Foreign Office (FO) had facilitated the meeting with the US Ambassador, emphasizing the use of official channels for communication.
Regarding queries about the release of PTI founder Imran Khan, Ayub clarified that the ambassador’s role does not influence matters related to Imran Khan’s release. Imran Khan has alleged a foreign conspiracy behind his removal from office as Prime Minister, with claims that the US administration played a part in his ouster.
