Security forces have successfully freed 104 hostages from terrorists who attacked the Jaffar Express in Balochistan’s Bolan Pass, according to security sources.

The assault left hundreds of passengers trapped as militants seized control of the train. Among those rescued were 58 men, 31 women, and 15 children.

During the operation, security forces killed 16 terrorists and injured several others. Officials said the militants suffered heavy losses and were forced to disperse into smaller groups.

Seventeen injured passengers have been moved to a nearby hospital, while additional security units continue efforts in the area.

The attack targeted the Peshawar-Quetta Jaffar Express, critically wounding the train’s driver. The terrorists halted the train inside a tunnel, taking passengers hostage, including women and children.

Despite the region’s difficult terrain, security forces launched a clearance operation, surrounding the militants as gunfire erupted. Sources say the attackers remain in contact with facilitators in Afghanistan and are using civilians as human shields.

The operation is proceeding with extreme caution due to the risk to hostages. Officials have vowed to continue until every terrorist is neutralized.
