Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar has instructed DG Sindh Safe City Authority Asif Aijaz Shaikh to prioritize the completion of the first phase.

This phase will see the installation of 1,300 CCTV cameras at 300 locations in the Red Zone and Airport Corridor. These cameras will feature Facial Recognition (FR) and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) capabilities, supported by eight hours of solar backup.

The project also involves integrating a database of jail inmates’ photographs into the system, expected to be finalized within two and a half years. A Command-and-Control Building is under construction next to the Karachi Police Office.

Overall, the project will be executed in two phases, involving 12,000 new cameras and the upgrade of 2,000 existing ones.
