Legendary Pakistani pacer Wasim Akram has offered his perspective on the perennial debate surrounding the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Pakistan Super League (PSL), unequivocally stating that the IPL holds the title of the bigger T20 extravaganza.

In a recent media interaction, Akram, who has been associated with both leagues, emphasized the colossal stature of the IPL, likening the PSL to a “mini-IPL” within the Pakistani cricket landscape.

When posed with the choice between IPL and PSL, Akram promptly favored the IPL, stating, “IPL. I have worked in both. You can’t compare the two; IPL is huge. PSL is huge in Pakistan, no doubt; it’s like the mini-IPL of Pakistan.

The cricket icon, who has a deep understanding of the cricketing dynamics in both countries, refrained from picking between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Karachi Kings, diplomatically expressing support for both teams.

Wasim Akram’s nuanced acknowledgment of the coexistence of talent and competitive spirit in both leagues highlights his appreciation for the cricketing fervor on display in India and Pakistan.

As the cricket world eagerly anticipates the upcoming IPL 2024, tentative dates ranging from March 22 to the end of May have been suggested. However, the final schedule is contingent on the dates for India’s general elections, which are yet to be finalized by the Election Commission.

The recently concluded IPL auction for 2024 witnessed intense bidding wars, with the Kolkata Knight Riders securing the services of Mitchell Starc for a record-breaking sum of Rs 24.75 crore. Starc, fresh from his success in the ODI World Cup in India, emerged as a highly sought-after player in the auction, causing a stir with his astronomical price tag.
