AfriSummit 2024, organized by PRA Consultancy and Hubplus Events in collaboration with Pioneers, will take place from November 3-6, 2024, at the Grand Nile Tower in Cairo. The event will bring together key stakeholders from the pharmaceutical and medical device industries, regulatory authorities, and global solution providers to address healthcare regulatory unification across Africa.
With a focus on harmonizing healthcare regulations, AfriSummit 2024 seeks to enhance access to high-quality, safe, and effective medicines across the continent. Co-founder Dr. Najiba Al Shezawy emphasized the summit’s critical role in ensuring regulatory alignment, stating, “Regulatory harmonization ensures all Africans have access to safe and effective medicines. AfriSummit is key in making significant strides in this area.”
The event will feature expert speakers from national regulatory bodies, the pharmaceutical sector, medical device industry, and global health organizations, addressing topics such as convergence in regulations, compliance, and innovative regulatory pathways. Attendees will benefit from specialized workshops on Pharmacovigilance and eCTD, providing insight into the latest advancements in healthcare regulation.
A key highlight will be a presentation on the current state of the African Medicines Agency (AMA) by AUDA-NEPAD, followed by panel discussions on reliance in post-approval changes. MedDevReg AfriSummit will also focus on essential topics such as “Ensuring Compliance in Africa: MDSAP Audits and GMP Site Inspections for Medical Devices” and combating counterfeit medical devices in the supply chain.
As Africa’s pharmaceutical market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 9.6% by 2027, harmonizing regulations will play a crucial role in reducing costs, improving healthcare outcomes, and expediting the availability of new medicines.
Co-founder Dr. Mona al Moussli expressed her optimism, stating, “The 4th edition of AfriSummit in Cairo epitomizes progress and innovation, highlighting the importance of harmonization and reliance in Africa. This year’s summit will be a catalyst for positive change in the pharmaceutical regulatory landscape across the continent.”
