In a remarkable operation led by Colonel (Retd) Omar, the Security head at Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH), authorities seized 35-40 kg of high-quality crystal methamphetamine, valued at millions of dollars in the international market. The operation resulted in the arrest of two young Baloch men who had transported the drugs from Turbat, Balochistan, to Karachi.
The suspects were apprehended at the Aga Khan University Hoospital’s parking area, where the crystal meth was discovered hidden in plastic bags inside a Crystal White car. The security staff at Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) became suspicious of the suspects’ activities, prompting a search that led to the discovery of the drugs.
The suspects had intended to deliver the crystal meth in the AKU hospital’s parking area but were reportedly anxious due to delays in meeting their recipients. Upon realizing the gravity of the situation, Aga Khan University Hospital’s security staff immediately notified Newtown Police and subsequently handed over the suspects, their vehicle, and the seized drugs to the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF).
This incident underscores a concerning lapse in security at the borders, as the vehicle managed to bypass all customs check posts from Turbat to Karachi despite the stringent zero-tolerance policies against smuggling enforced by the Army Chief and the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
