In a nail-biting finale at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Pakistan fell short against Bangladesh in their third One Day International (ODI) match, ultimately securing a 11-run victory and reclaiming control of the series with a 2-1 edge. The match started off poorly for Pakistan as openers Saif Hassan and Tanzid Hasan combined to score an impressive 105 runs for the first wicket.

This early partnership set the tone for Bangladesh, who continued to build on it through partnerships with Najmul Hossain Shanto (107) and Towhid Hridoy (48). Tanzid’s century performance was pivotal, with his resilience crucial in propelling Bangladesh to their total of 290/5.

Pakistan responded well at the start but were soon under pressure when Haris Rauf took three wickets early on. Debutants Ghazi Ghori and Abdul Samad added a fifty partnership before both fell quickly, leaving Pakistan needing more from their experienced batsmen.

Salman Ali Agha, who put up a commendable fight with 107 runs including four sixes and nine boundaries, was joined by Saad Masood in the chase. However, their efforts could not halt the tide as Bangladesh’s bowlers staged another strong comeback to take wickets at critical moments.

Agha held his nerve until the very end, providing crucial support for Afridi who contributed 37 runs, making it a valiant effort. Despite Agha’s century, Pakistan were out of their depth by the final over as Rishad Hossain delivered a composed performance, conceding only two runs to seal the win and complete Bangladesh’s three-match series triumph.

Nahid Rana’s eight wickets across the series highlight his dominance, but Tanzid Hasan emerged victorious in this match with an exceptional century, solidifying his position as Player of the Match. The series victory was a significant comeback for Bangladesh after two losses earlier in the tournament.
