Former Air Canada Pilot Arrested for Fraud
Geoffrey Wall, a 59-year-old former Air Canada pilot, has been arrested and charged with fraud after allegedly operating hundreds of commercial flights over nearly 17 years using fraudulent credentials.
The Peel Regional Police in Ontario announced that Wall faces charges including fraud, uttering forged documents, possession of counterfeit trademarks, and public mischief. The investigation, which lasted four months, found that Wall had falsified pilot documentation to command more than 900 domestic and international flights between 2009 and 2025.
Wall held a valid commercial pilot licence but did not possess the required airline transport pilot licence for commanding commercial passenger aircraft. Air Canada stated that the matter was treated with utmost seriousness and emphasized that no compromise to passenger safety occurred, as all pilots undergo regular training and flight checks. The airline also noted that an internal audit found no other cases of licence non-compliance.
This case raises concerns about oversight and trust in aviation safety systems, according to authorities. Wall had retired in 2025 before the alleged misconduct was discovered. He has not publicly commented on the charges.
