Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan and the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) have formalized an agreement to commence relief operations from Jordan. The collaboration aims to deliver vital aid to Gaza via the Kerem Shalom Crossing.
The agreement was solidified during a formal meeting between Air Marshal (Retd) Arshad Malik, National Director of Aghosh, and a delegation from the Jordanian charity organization Hashemite Foundation. The signing ceremony was graced by Mohammad Abdus Shakoor, Vice President of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, and Dr. Hussain Al Shabli, Secretary General of JHCO, in the esteemed presence of Pakistan Ambassador to Jordan, H.E. Major General (Retd) Muhammad Ajmal Iqbal.
Muhammad Abdus Shakoor highlighted the significance of the partnership, emphasizing its goal to streamline humanitarian assistance efforts and enhance aid coordination in Gaza. Notably, the agreement marks a breakthrough in logistics, as aid supplies from Pakistan will now take a new route via the ‘Kerem Abu Shalom Crossing’ in Israel, following Israel’s agreement under international pressure. This strategic shift is poised to alleviate congestion at the Rafah Crossing in Egypt, enhancing administrative efficiency.
With the agreement in place, relief goods dispatched from Pakistan via Alkhidmat will seamlessly transit through Jordan to reach beneficiaries at the Shalom Crossing in Gaza. In addition to logistical support, JHCO will collaborate with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) for reporting duties, further enhancing the aid delivery mechanism.
Highlighting the swift delivery of aid, Muhammad Abdus Shakoor disclosed that the first consignment of food and medicine has already embarked on its journey to Gaza within 24 hours of arriving in Jordan from Pakistan. He also expressed gratitude to Pakistan Ambassador to Jordan, H.E. Major General (Retd) Muhammad Ajmal Iqbal, for the embassy’s support in facilitating Alkhidmat’s partnership with JHCO.
Following the MoU with JHCO, a high-level delegation from Alkhidmat Foundation visited Jordan, where they toured the facilities of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization. Dr. Hussain Al Shabli provided insights into ongoing aid initiatives in Gaza, emphasizing the collective resolve to alleviate the suffering of Palestinian families.
Amidst the prolonged humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Alkhidmat has demonstrated unwavering commitment by delivering over 1700 tons of life-saving relief aid since October 07 through its partners in Gaza.
