Andy Burnham Criticizes Trump’s Instability, Likely Next UK PM

Labour Party lawmaker Andy Burnham is in line to become Britain’s next prime minister following the resignation of current Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The Labour Party, which holds a significant majority in the U.K. parliament, will choose Burnham’s successor.

Burnham has previously criticized President Trump, accusing him of instigating instability worldwide and contributing to polarized politics in America. In 2024, he co-authored a book where he linked Trump’s rise to a new radical right movement in both the UK and US, exploiting inequality and dissatisfaction with an out-of-touch political establishment.

On January 6th, as rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol, Burnham expressed his disapproval of any UK politician who would associate with Trump on social media. The White House has yet to respond to these comments.
