Antony Starr’s portrayal of Homelander in The Boys has skyrocketed to pop culture prominence. Memes, a significant factor in this phenomenon, have become deeply ingrained in current trends. In an interview with TODAY, Starr humorously acknowledged his career pivoting towards memes.

When challenged to recreate his famous Homelander memes without sound effects, Starr quipped, “The sound effects need to go with the meme… It’s very weird if you don’t do it. That’s just cruel.” He also noted one of his favorite memes, saying, “That almost looks like a special effect.”

Starr is urging his fanbase to create as many silly and humorous memes about Homelander as possible. He believes that the more ridiculous the meme, the better.

Despite not expecting Homelander’s popularity in pop culture, Starr expressed genuine delight at being in such a position. The Boys’ final season episode 3 will premiere on Prime Video on April 15.
