Arnold Schwarzenegger Named to California Hall of Fame After Snub

Arnold Schwarzenegger has been officially welcomed into the California Hall of Fame, a prestigious honor bestowed upon him by current governor Gavin Newsom. This recognition comes six months after Schwarzenegger was omitted from an initial list of honourees made public.

In his statement, Newsom hailed Schwarzenegger as “a singular figure in California history, embodying the Golden State’s promise of opportunity.” The announcement highlighted how Schwarzenegger rose from modest origins to become a global bodybuilder champion, Hollywood icon, successful businessman, environmentalist, philanthropist, and eventually the 38th Governor of California.

Schwarzenegger is being inducted alongside his former co-star Jamie Lee Curtis, who has carved out a five-decade career that culminated with an Academy Award-winning performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once. The press release praised her achievements as “a passionate humanitarian” and lauded her as both an Emmy and Golden Globe winner, as well as the author of best-selling children’s books.

Other celebrities on this year’s list include Nobuyuki Matsuhisa, 76, co-founder of the acclaimed Nobu restaurant empire; Terry McMillan, 74, who penned novels such as Waiting to Exhale and How Stella Got Her Groove Back. All inductees will be “formally enshrined” during a ceremony at the California Museum in Sacramento on March 19, celebrating their remarkable contributions to civic life, creativity, and social progress.

This year’s induction class further solidifies the Hall of Fame’s commitment to honoring influential Californians whose legacies have profoundly shaped the state’s history.
