Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday announced that the party has determined to part ways with its allies as they were not interested in addressing critical issues of inflation and terrorism.

Addressing the main event commemorating the 16th death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, Bilawal said PPP has decided to contest upcoming elections independently, with the distinctive “Arrow” mark as their symbol.

Bilawal on Wednesday announced 10-point agenda for party’s stance; Double the salaries within five years, free solar energy of 300 units for the poor; every district to have green energy parks, education for all — rolling out projects for better education, free health for all across Pakistan, three million houses for flood affectees and the poor, expand BISP’s scope; introducing more welfare schemes, BSIP-like programme for farmers and ‘Hari Card’, enhanced support for labourers through Benazir Mazdoor Card, ‘Youth Card’ for unemployed youth, ‘Youth Markaz’ and ‘Bhook Mitao Programme’.

He reiterated the party’s commitment to a revolutionary manifesto, saying that the PPP views elections as a competition and is unafraid of the democratic process.

The PPP chairman emphasised the need for a government committed to solving the problems faced by the common man, adding that the PPP was ready to take on that responsibility. Reflecting on the 16th anniversary of Benazir Bhutto’s assassination, Bilawal Bhutto highlighted the resilience of the PPP against forces that sought to suppress the voice of farmers, laborers, and youth by martyring the People’s Leader.

He declared that the PPP’s dedication to the dream of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto ‘Shaheed’ was evident in the 18th constitutional amendment and the allocation of NFC awards to the provinces. Bilawal Bhutto stressed the PPP’s commitment to democracy, echoing the slogan “democracy is the best revenge.” He reminded the audience of the party’s role in expelling a dictator and expressed confidence in the ability of the PPP to save the federation and address the country’s challenges. PPP chairman asserted that the party’s goal was to change the fate of the people by returning to power, emphasizing that the future belonged to those who addressed the current issues facing the nation.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari during his speech condemned the divisive politics of some older politicians and urged a collective focus on the country’s problems rather than personal interests.
