‘Bridgerton’ Author Speaks on Future Cast Changes

Renewed buzz surrounds the future of Bridgerton, as author Julia Quinn weighs in on speculation about potential recasting for upcoming seasons. During an interview with Us Weekly, Quinn revealed her thoughts without committing to specific plans: “I don’t necessarily know how they’re gonna spin it or write it or what they’re going to keep and change,” she stated.

Notably, the upcoming episodes focus on Francesca (Claudia Jessie) and Eloise (Claudia Jessie), though details about their order have yet to be settled. Quinn’s To Sir Phillip, With Love highlights a key subplot involving Eloise and Phillip (Chris Fulton), who appeared in seasons 1 and 2. “I love her story,” she enthused, noting the challenge of reconciling characters with multiple children while keeping some aspects fresh: “He’s got two kids who she has got to wrangle, which is awesome. The fact that Eloise is going to have an instant family is awesome. His twins are pretty ruthless to her so I hope they keep stuff like that in.”

Regarding Fulton’s role, Quinn expressed uncertainty but confidence that he will remain: “I don’t know what will be done regarding him reprising the role or being recast.” Similarly, she mused about other young cast members who fans often fret over. “Other cast members, such as Hyacinth (Florence Hunt) and Gregory (Will Tilston), are a different concern because they have been playing younger versions of these characters.”

Quinn recalled watching them at the show’s premiere, where she noted their transformation from 12- to 18-year-olds. “They were, like, 12 and 13 when they started. I was like, ‘I don’t know’ back then if the same actors would be playing them as adults. But by the time we saw them at the premiere, they were both drinking wine.” Quinn explained that it takes several years to film episodes, so by Bridgerton’s part 4, her young stars are well into their 20s.

Quinn concluded with a nod to the show’s streaming release dates: “Bridgerton season 4 part 1 is currently streaming on Netflix. Part 2 will drop on February 26.”
