CCP Signs MoU with SDPI for Policy Collaboration

The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) and the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) have formalized a collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aimed at fostering comprehensive research, policy analysis, and evidence-based recommendations for an inclusive and competitive market environment. This partnership was inaugurated by Dr Kabir Ahmed Sidhu, Chairman of CCP, along with Dr Abid Qaiyum Suleri from SDPI, in the presence of senior officials from both institutions.

At the signing ceremony, Salman Amin, a member of the CCP, and Dr Sajid Amin Javed, the Deputy Executive Director at SDPI, sealed the document. In his remarks, Dr Kabir Ahmed Sidhu highlighted the importance of this partnership, stating that it would enable joint reviews of legal and regulatory frameworks, ensuring they remain relevant to evolving market conditions. He underscored the aim to produce high-quality research, reports, and data to facilitate improved policy solutions. This collaboration was positioned not merely as a tool for better consumer and business welfare but also as a means to curb monopolistic and oligopolistic practices.

Dr Abid Qaiyum Suleri echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that the joint efforts between SDPI and CCP would provide invaluable inputs to support government policymaking. He elaborated on how this collaboration could offer practical pathways to tackle existing sector-specific challenges while promoting fair, transparent, and efficient market environments in Pakistan. The MoU establishes a foundation for mutual learning, knowledge dissemination, and capacity enhancement aimed at bolstering competition policy and ensuring equitable market conditions.

CCP 2024, the Competition Commission of Pakistan, holds all rights under this agreement.
