Chappell Roan has finally spoken after facing backlash over her 2026 Grammy look. The 27-year-old American singer-songwriter attended this year’s Grammy Awards in a trompe l’oeil gown designed by Thierry Mugler, featuring a skin-tone bodice with faux nipple piercings and intricate tattoos. The outfit also included matching sheer burgundy fabric from the fake piercings to the floor.
With the help of her longtime stylist Genesis Webb, Roan wore fine gold jewelry from Buccellati to complement her look. Her custom outfit became one of the discussed topics at this year’s ceremony. Despite the criticism, she remained unfazed and posted a carousel of photographs on Instagram with a caption reading, “Giggling because I don’t even think this is THAT outrageous of an outfit.” Roan emphasized that the look was actually “so awesome and weird.” She concluded by recommending people to exercise their free will, finding it both fun and silly. Finally, she thanked her fans for voting for her at the Grammy Awards.
