A horrific accident near Kathore on Karachi’s Super Highway claimed at least 12 lives, including women and children, on Wednesday. The crash, involving an oil tanker, a passenger bus, and multiple vehicles, occurred due to overspeeding and vehicle instability. Rescue teams swiftly arrived on the scene and began immediate emergency operations.

Among those killed were three women and two minors, adding to the grim toll of loss. Immediate medical assistance was provided to injured individuals who have been evacuated to hospitals for treatment. The Super Highway has experienced severe disruptions in traffic flow, with lengthy queues forming on both sides as a result of the incident. Traffic policing is in full swing, with police cordons established around the site and emergency crews working round-the-clock.

Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho expressed concern over the incident and instructed the police to immediately deploy at the location. The IG also ordered enhanced security measures for the area, efforts to restore normal traffic movement, and a thorough investigation into what caused this tragic accident. Preliminary findings suggest that only minor damage occurred to the oil tanker but noted no significant fire incidents have been reported so far. Authorities are currently examining all evidence meticulously and will take legal action against any responsible parties if negligence is confirmed.

The incident underscores the dangers of operating on high-speed highways without proper caution, leading to devastating consequences for innocent lives. The authorities’ swift response highlights their commitment to ensuring public safety amidst such crises.
