Dan Levy Discloses Inspiration Behind New Netflix Show Big Mistakes
Eugene Levy’s son attended the red carpet premiere in New York City on April 6. He spoke to PEOPLE magazine about his show.
The 42-year-old Canadian actor and writer revealed that he was inspired by his early relationship with his sister, Sarah Levy.
Dan explained, “We’re in a far better place now that we’re older and wiser. But … anyone who has a sibling, I think, will recognize themselves in the show.”
He added that Big Mistakes is “really about authenticating the experience of that sibling dynamic and just exacerbating all of the bickering in the light of, like, intense criminal activity.”
The Schitt’s Creek star hoped people with siblings and those who come from yelling families would find a place in this show. He concluded, “I just love it so much.”
Big Mistakes features an ensemble cast including Taylor Ortega, Laurie Metcalf, Abby Quinn, Boran Kazum, and Jack Innanen. Dan also plays Nicky, an openly gay pastor who gets blackmailed.
The crime-comedy series shows Nicky and Morgan as siblings who become part of the criminal underworld “after making disastrous decisions.”
Big Mistakes was released on April 9 and is streaming on Netflix.
