Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar reaffirmed the country’s commitment to promoting the purposes and principles of the UN Charter during a meeting with Ecuador’s former foreign minister, María Fernanda Espinosa. The Foreign Office statement highlighted that Dar reiterated Pakistan’s support for strengthening multilateralism and ensuring the United Nations plays a central role in global affairs.

Dar also expressed hope that the next UN secretary-general would pursue reforms at the United Nations and ensure the implementation of longstanding UN Security Council resolutions on Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir, which he said remain crucial for lasting peace in the Middle East and South Asia.
