Drake’s post-rap war with Kendrick Lamar saw a significant turnaround. Over two years later, the Grammy winner released not one, but three albums.
All three dominated the music scene and became chart-toppers. Billboard reports Drake has now beaten mega-star Michael Jackson after Janice STFU scored No. 1 on the chart.
This makes Drake the first solo male artist to hit most Billboard top spots. However, he did not stop there. The One Dance hitmaker flooded a string of tracks – 42 total in number – ranked in the Billboard Hot 100 in a single week.
He surpassed Morgan Wallen, who previously held the record with 37 songs. By ranking so many tracks in such little time, Drake’s score 400 career entries on the chart.
Gordo, a frequent producer of Drake, expressed his astonishment over the rapper dropping three albums. “I knew it was going to be two albums,” he tells Rolling Stone. “I didn’t know it was going to be three.”
It appeared Drizzy kept his full three albums a secret even from his inner circle. Gordo, who listened to all three albums, said, “It’s super, super different, and it’s been this thing where I’ve been the guy that he has done different stuff with.”
“Obviously, I’ve heard the rap stuff, but him doing all the crossover stuff with me, that’s just the coolest thing about it,” he concluded.
