Dubai police have arrested Daniel Kinahan, an alleged Irish crime gang boss, on charges of organized criminal activity. The arrest followed receipt of a judicial file from Irish authorities and was announced by Dubai police on Friday.
Kinahan was named as one of three leaders of the Kinahan Organised Crime Group by the United States in 2022, which offered a $5 million reward for their arrest. The U.S. Treasury likened the gang to some of the world’s most notorious crime networks and said it frequently uses Dubai as a hub for illicit activities.
A lawyer for Kinahan told the BBC in 2021 that he has no criminal record or convictions and denied allegations of being a crime boss. Reuters was unable to contact representatives for Kinahan.
