Election Commission Halts By-election for Murad Saeed

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has halted the by-election for the vacant Senate seat held by Murad Saeed. This decision follows a stay order issued on a petition challenging his de-notification.

During the hearing, lawyer Jalal Khan argued that although Saeed had been elected as senator, he never took the oath of office. The ECP accepted this plea and postponed the scheduled by-election on April 23 until May 7.
