Electricity Relief Measures Forthcoming, says Sharjeel Memon

Senior Minister Sindh Sharjeel Inam Memon has praised the Sindh Police for their effective efforts in tackling drug-related issues and reducing street crime. He noted that the police’s progress in these areas should be acknowledged, especially as they have made notable strides in their operation against dacoits in Kacha, where 43 robbers were killed. Unfortunately, 11 policemen also lost their lives in this operation.

Memon emphasized that while negative news often garners more attention, the positive achievements of the police should not be overlooked. He commended both the Home Minister and IG Sindh for their dedication.

Memon also addressed the ongoing electricity crisis, noting that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has repeatedly approached the federal government to seek relief. He expressed hope that relief measures would soon be announced.

Reflecting on past projects, Memon highlighted that after the fall of Ms. Benazir Bhutto’s government, her initiatives were halted. However, President Asif Ali Zardari revived these projects in 2008, including the Thar coal project, which he credited as a significant achievement for the Pakistan People’s Party. Memon emphasized that Thar coal remains Pakistan’s sole source of affordable electricity, fulfilling a vision initially set by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.

He mentioned that the infrastructure developed to implement the Thar project is remarkable. Currently, 2,640 MW of electricity is being generated from Thar coal. The Thar Coal project is poised to bear the burden of electricity supply for the entire country, producing electricity at 11 rupees per unit. The Nooriabad Wind Power Generation Plant is generating electricity at 9 rupees per unit. The Government of Sindh has initiated the most cost-effective electricity projects, with 1,845 megawatts of electricity being generated from wind power.

Sharjeel Inam Memon announced that a plan to educate women about their rights while traveling on the pink bus service will be launched soon, providing awareness of the rules. This will be the first awareness project of its kind in the world.

He stated that Umar Ayub should review the performance of his previous government before criticizing the Sindh government and the People’s Party. People from all over Pakistan are coming to Sindh in search of employment and medical treatment because the Government of Sindh supports them. The PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) supported the Taliban and funded them. During the PTI period, the Taliban breached Bannu Jail to free their accomplices, and the APS tragedy occurred. Umar Ayub should point out any development plan from the PTI government’s tenure. The BRT project in KPK set records for corruption. PTI has only engaged in digital terrorism and conspiracies against the country and its people. PTI governments have been the worst, PTI patronized harmful conspiracies.

Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that the PTI leadership did everything possible to harm the country. The May 9 incident was one of the worst of its kind. However, the military leadership refrained from using force against the saboteurs due to their arrogance. PTI wrote letters to the IMF and did everything in their power to push the country towards bankruptcy. PTI’s conspiracies against Pakistan will not succeed.

In response to a question, the senior minister stated that the People’s Party government aims to benefit the people of Pakistan through its projects. Residents of Islamkot are being provided with free electricity.

In response to another question, he stated that the department has the legal right to take action against its officers. The People’s Party has not nominated Bashir Memon for the position of Governor of Sindh.

In response to a question, he stated that the PPP government is working diligently to provide relief to people regarding electricity bills as soon as possible. The concerned Assistant Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners have the authority to take action against chemically adulterated milk.

He stated that Imran Khan’s statement about throwing a petrol bomb is equivalent to an act attempt to murder. People have been sentenced to 15 years in the Capitol Hill incident, while we have individuals making such rhetoric here. No other party has ever thrown petrol bombs at the police excluding PTI. In 2018, the entire mandate of Pakistan was altered to bring in “Ladla.”

In response to another question, he stated that the killers of Jan Muhammad Mahar and Nasrullah Gadani will not escape the grip of the law. At the press conference, Sindh government spokesperson Sadia Javed and Ganhwar Khan Esran were also present.
