England faces India with no fear, ready to make noise at Wankhede Stadium

As England prepares for their semi-final clash against India in the T20 World Cup, all-rounder Sam Curran remains confident and unafraid. The left-arm seamer emphasized that his team’s experience playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be a significant asset in handling the home crowd.

The contest, set to take place at the Wankhede Stadium with 35,000 fiercely partisan fans expected, promises to be another high-stakes encounter. Curran believes that his teammates’ familiarity with the IPL grounds and their recent performances in franchise leagues have prepared them well for this crucial match.

“We’ve played a lot of cricket here,” he said. “We know how to play on these grounds and we understand what to expect from India, who are a quality side.”

England’s team experience is bolstered by players like Will Jacks, also known for his contributions in the IPL with Mumbai Indians. Their confidence stems not only from their recent performances but also from facing Indian teams in multiple formats of cricket.

Curran’s most impressive moment came during England’s first match against Nepal when he delivered a decisive final over to save a possible embarrassment. He has since repeated this feat, showcasing his ability to perform under pressure. Despite the home advantage, Curran believes that their own experience and preparation will set them up for success.

“India are a quality side but we’ve played a lot of cricket here,” said Curran. “We know how to play on these grounds and we know what to expect.”

England’s previous encounters with India in T20 World Cup semi-finals have yielded some memorable results, including England’s 10-wicket victory over India in Adelaide two years ago that led them to the final.

For England, the next hurdle is a confrontation with South Africa or New Zealand. Curran hopes for another decisive performance against their Indian opponents, believing they can measure their progress by the energy and enthusiasm of the crowd.

“I think this is what the last few weeks have been building towards,” said Curran. “And hopefully we can take one more step towards the final.”
