
Oslo’s US Embassy Struck by Unmissable Blast, Minimal Damage Confirmed
A powerful explosion hit the US embassy in Oslo early Sunday, sparking minor structural damage but leaving no casualties. Eyewitnesses reported thick smoke billowing from the entryway of the consular section.
The incident occurred at approximately 1 am local time (00:00 GMT) near western Oslo’s embassy compound, according to Oslo police. High school student Sebastian Toerstad, aged 18, who was driving by the time of the explosion, noted a dense layer of smoke on the street and confirmed visible damage at the entrance.
Norwegian authorities initially reported that no explosives had been found in the vicinity since the blast. The embassy has yet to respond officially; however, the US State Department did not provide immediate comment either.
Police investigations into the incident involved canine units, aerial drones, and a helicopter, aimed at identifying one or more potential perpetrators behind this explosive act. Authorities emphasized that thorough searches were conducted under police supervision.
Despite these initial findings, authorities remain vigilant in their pursuit of answers surrounding this unexplained occurrence targeting diplomatic quarters, ensuring the security of both embassies and citizens alike.
