Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) local leader and Chanesar Town Chairman Farhan Ghani has been arrested and booked under anti-terrorism and attempted murder charges for allegedly assaulting a government employee and unlawfully detaining him during official duty.
According to the FIR filed by government official Hafiz Sohail Ahmed at Ferozabad Police Station, the incident occurred on August 22 during the supervision of optic fiber cable installation on Shahrah-e-Faisal. The complainant stated that a group of 20–25 individuals, including Ghani, forcibly interrupted the legally authorized work and, despite being shown the necessary permits, physically assaulted him and confined him in a nearby room at a petrol station.
Police later intervened and rescued the official. Following the complaint, Farhan Ghani was arrested and charged under multiple sections including 7-ATA, attempted murder (324 PPC), and obstruction of government duties (186, 353 PPC).
Farhan Ghani’s brother, Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani, acknowledged the incident on his Twitter (X) account, stating that a dispute did occur between Farhan (along with his companions) and Sohail. He confirmed that Farhan has surrendered and will prove his innocence in court.
The case is under further investigation.
