Karachi: FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan Limited (FCEPL), a leading multinational in the dairy and nutrition sector, has become the first company in Pakistan’s dairy industry to partner with State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan (SLIC), the country’s largest life and health insurer, to introduce a dedicated life insurance programme for dairy farmers. The pioneering initiative aims to provide financial security insurance coverage for over 1,500 farmers and their families under the Dairy Farmers Programme.

As part of the company’s ongoing commitment to Doing Dairy Right; that encompasses farmer welfare and sustainable livelihoods, the customized insurance Dairy Farmers Insurance Programme is designed to support farmers’ families in the event of accidental death or permanent disability, ensuring financial protection and greater peace of mind for farming communities at no cost to the farmers.

Speaking on the occasion, Imran Hussain – Deputy Managing Director said: Building a sustainable dairy ecosystem goes beyond milk production, it means investing in the well-being and resilience of our farmers. As the first in the industry to introduce structured life insurance at no cost to the dairy farmers, we are proud to set a new benchmark for farmer welfare and responsible business practices in Pakistan’s dairy sector. This initiative further cements our efforts of Protecting farmer livelihoods.

The initial phase will enroll more than 1,500 dairy farmers, including small scale farmers, across FCEPL’s network, marking a significant milestone as the company’s first structured farmer protection initiative and setting a new benchmark for social responsibility within Pakistan’s dairy sector.

Through this collaboration with FCEPL, milk farmers are being offered a one-year accidental death and disability insurance cover at a preferential rate, stated Mr. Faisal Mumtaz, Chief Actuary at SLIC. This initiative, facilitated by SLIC, provides immediate and structured financial protection to dairy farmers and their dependents, addressing income vulnerability at the household level. By extending affordable insurance solutions to underserved segments, the programme advances financial inclusion, strengthens risk mitigation within the agricultural value chain, and supports community resilience through scalable microinsurance coverage.

This initiative underscores the joint vision of FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan Limited and State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan to create a lasting impact beyond business, ensuring to build a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable future for the country’s agricultural economy.
