President Asif Ali Zardari has approved a sharp increase in the monthly salaries of federal ministers and ministers of state, raising them to Rs. 519,000 — bringing their pay in line with that of Members of the National Assembly (MNAs).
Previously, federal ministers earned Rs. 200,000 per month, while ministers of state received Rs. 180,000. The adjustment reflects an increase of up to 188 percent, matching a recent rise in MNAs’ salaries implemented by the NA Finance Committee.
The announcement follows a major expansion of the federal cabinet on February 27, which now includes 30 federal ministers, nine ministers of state, and four advisers.
