A devastating gas cylinder explosion in a shop on Lahore’s Ravi Road late Tuesday night caused a three-story building to collapse, claiming five lives and leaving six others injured.
The blast ignited a fire that rapidly engulfed the structure, according to officials from the Edhi Foundation. The explosion’s intensity brought down all three floors of the building.
Rescue operations were launched swiftly, with emergency crews pulling survivors from the wreckage and transporting the injured to a nearby hospital. Bodies of the deceased have been recovered and shifted to the morgue.
Efforts are ongoing to clear debris and ensure no one remains trapped beneath the rubble.
Police have cordoned off the site and begun a formal investigation to determine the circumstances leading up to the explosion.
