Flour Dealers Association Announces Price Increase

The Flour Dealers Association of Rawalpindi-Islamabad announced an immediate hike in transportation charges for flour supply across the twin cities following a sharp rise in petroleum prices.

At the meeting chaired by president Zahoor Bhatti, office-bearers including Haji Munir Abbasi and Khalil Abbasi discussed the recent increase in petrol and diesel prices. They noted that when fuel prices were previously raised by Rs55 per litre, no changes were made to flour transportation rates. However, with an increase of Rs137 in petrol price per litre and Rs180 in diesel price, a revision was deemed necessary.

The revised rates will see delivery charges increased by Rs20 for 15kg flour bags and Rs80 for sacks supplied to grocery shops, tandoors, and hotels. The association leaders emphasized that the public is already burdened by inflation, and this latest increase would further worsen their situation.

All flour dealers are expected to implement these revised rates from tomorrow, potentially leading to higher overall flour prices. Meanwhile, the All Pakistan Naanbai Association has demanded immediate revision in bread prices due to increased costs of petroleum products, flour, gas cylinders, electricity, and gas. The association warned of a complete strike next week if prices are not revised.
