
The federal government has designated Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar as the deputy prime minister “with immediate effect,” as per an official notification issued on Sunday.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed the appointment, marking Dar as the second individual to hold the position of deputy prime minister since PML-Q leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s tenure in 2012.
The announcement was also shared by the foreign ministry on the social media platform X, signifying Dar’s elevation to the deputy prime ministerial role.
