FPCCI Urges Reduced Fees for Trade Organisations Amidst Economic Concerns

Mr. Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of Pakistan’s Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (), has called for a 50% reduction in the fee required to amend the Memorandum and Articles of Association for Women-owned trade bodies across Pakistan. The , representing over 20 million members, is urging immediate relief from the Ministry of Commerce following a recent directive that fixed this fee at PKR 100,000 per body.

The request comes amid concerns about women’s empowerment in the country, where they constitute 52% of Pakistan’s population. Mr. Atif Ikram Sheikh has highlighted how these trade bodies, which represent women-owned and run businesses, often operate with limited financial resources. Despite this, they play a crucial role in promoting female entrepreneurship by offering capacity-building programs and supporting women-led enterprises at both the grassroots and national levels.

In light of this directive, the has received numerous representations from various Women Chambers of Commerce and Industry across Pakistan. These entities are seeking financial relief due to these regulatory changes. Mr. Atif Ikram Sheikh explained that a special concession for a 50% fee reduction is essential for supporting these vital trade bodies.

SVP Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, , underscored the significance of this measure, stating it would facilitate compliance with regulatory requirements while allowing Women Chambers to continue their important work. He added that this supportive policy aligns with the Ministry’s vision of empowering women and fostering inclusive economic growth.
