ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Barrister Gohhar Ali Khan, has vehemently rejected claims made by former PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat regarding Aleema Khan. In an interview with the media, Khan called Marwat’s recent television remarks “disappointing.” He emphasized that he had previously agreed not to make controversial statements and that it was inappropriate for Marwat to appear on multiple TV channels simultaneously and launch attacks against individuals.
Khan clarified his position by stating that Aleema Khan had never reached out to him with a request to resign as the party’s chairperson. He further explained that she did not express any interest in becoming the party leader, noting that such allegations were unjustified. The PTI chairman highlighted that elections for party leadership were held on March 3, 2024, and documents were submitted to the Election Commission on April 10, 2024. He stated that certification of these documents was pending.
Khan urged party members to refrain from making further controversial remarks and called for restraint in public discussions. A day earlier, Marwat had criticized Aleema Khan by alleging she mobilized social media influencers against him. He suggested that if Aleema Khan wanted to cause irreparable damage to the PTI, she could file a lawsuit.
In stark contrast to Marwat’s accusations, Khan described Aleema Khan as someone who regarded party members as “servants.” He also mentioned Ali Amin Gandapur’s prominent position within the party and emphasized Sohail Afridi’s uncertain tenure due to potential legal issues. Khan underscored that there were concerns about disqualification for the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The controversy surrounding Aleema Khan highlights ongoing internal conflicts within the PTI, with both leaders attempting to shift blame onto each other and seeking public support against their rivals.
