New York-based Android Authority discovered hidden strings in Google Maps’ latest version. These strings suggest a feature allowing users to order food through conversation and have it ready for pickup.
The code is linked to Ask Maps, a natural language conversational component powered by Gemini, which Google introduced earlier this year. Users could ask about locations and directions with this tool.
Google itself announced weeks before the teardown that users would soon be able to order food delivery via conversation in Maps. However, leaked strings refer to a drive-up service, while Google’s announcement mentioned food delivery, indicating an inconsistency in how the feature will work.
It remains unclear if this feature will be available to all users or initially released as a beta test, similar to Magic Cue on Pixel 10 devices.
