Hungary’s PM-designate Peter Magyar has stated that Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu could be arrested if he visits Budapest due to an active ICC arrest warrant.
Speaking to journalists, Magyar said Hungary as a member of the ICC would be obligated to detain any individual with an arrest warrant present in its territory.
Magyar also informed Netanyahu about his intention to reintegrate Hungary into the ICC system. He added that Hungary would abide by the laws of the International Criminal Court.
The ICC issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes during the Gaza conflict in 2024, but both leaders deny the allegations.
