Pakistan and Indonesia Strengthen Economic Ties Through High-Level Visit

The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, welcomed the Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Mr. Rosan Roeslani, during his official visit to Islamabad from February 9th to 10th, 2026.

H.E. Rosan Roeslani’s tenure as CEO of Indonesia’s Sovereign Wealth Fund, Danantara, made this engagement particularly significant. Senator Dar highlighted Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to expanding bilateral economic and investment cooperation with Indonesia.

During his visit, H.E. Roeslani also paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Speaking at a press conference following the meeting, the Prime Minister underscored the importance of recent historic visits by President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia to Pakistan in December 2025 and highlighted key initiatives taken then that aimed to bolster mutual investment and deepen economic ties.

The Prime Minister commended the strides made during the prior visit, including agreements on enhancing bilateral cooperation. He pledged to create an environment conducive to investing in Pakistan by supporting initiatives like those spearheaded Danantara.

Concurrently, H.E. Roeslani convened a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Dar. Both underscored their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and prioritized investment as a cornerstone of collaboration.

To facilitate this dialogue, both sides received a comprehensive briefing from the Ministry of Finance, Investment Board, and Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) on Pakistan’s investment potential in key sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, IT, mining, digital infrastructure, healthcare, connectivity, and energy.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to foster collaboration across various domains including but not limited to these areas, thereby laying the groundwork for institutional engagement between Pakistan’s SIFC and Danantara.

H.E. Roeslani’s visit signifies a united resolve by both nations to elevate their economic partnership from leadership-level initiatives into actionable outcomes.

This collaborative effort underscores Pakistan and Indonesia’s shared dedication to further strengthen bilateral ties through robust, mutually beneficial investments.
