U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth stated on Friday that Iran still has an opportunity for talks.

“Hegseth’s comments came during a press briefing at the Pentagon where he emphasized, ‘Iran knows they still have an open window to choose wisely at the negotiating table.'”

He further said, “All they have to do is abandon a nuclear weapon in meaningful and verifiable ways.”

Hegseth also mentioned that the U.S. blockade of Iranian ports was expanding globally.

“The U.S. has seized two Iranian dark fleet ships leaving Iranian ports,” he added.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Caine, later reported that Iran had attacked five merchant ships.
