Iranian Civilians Form Human Chains Around Key Infrastructure

In response to US President Donald Trump’s deadline for a proposed agreement with Iran, Iranian civilians formed human chains around key infrastructure sites. The move came after Trump warned that the United States would destroy Iran’s power plants and bridges if negotiations failed.

Local media reported crowds at major locations on Tuesday, including Tabriz, Bisotun in Kermanshah Province, Mazandaran Power Plant in the north, and Shahid Rajaei Thermal Power Plant in Qazvin Province. Photos and videos showed citizens holding national flags and placards reading “Attacking power facilities is a war crime.”

Iran’s Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Ali Reza Rahimi, called for nationwide participation, inviting all youth to gather at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday around power plants.

Reports emerged of attacks on transport infrastructure across the country with less than a day until Trump’s deadline. Mehr News Agency cited a source in Isfahan Province saying that US and Israeli forces attacked the Yahyaabad Railway Bridge in Khorramabad, killing two civilians and injuring three. A projectile also struck the Tabriz-Tehran highway, halting traffic.

Further reports said bridges on the outskirts of Qom, railways in Qazvin, and rail lines in Karaj were bombed. Power outages were reported in parts of Karaj and Pardis. Railway operations in Mashhad were fully suspended due to air raid alerts.
