Jennifer Lopez recently spoke about her newfound sense of freedom following her divorce from Ben Affleck, shedding light on how this life-changing event has transformed her perspective. The multihyphenate star filed for divorce in August 2024 after a marriage that lasted nearly two years.

In an interview preview aired on Good Morning America’s Nightline show, Lopez opened up about the impact of being single for the first time in her adult life. “I’m in my happy era,” she began. She then elaborated, “For the first time in my life, I feel like I’m free; I’m on my own. And it feels really good.”

Lopez recalled that during her earlier years and even before they entered the spotlight, she had often found herself entangled in relationships. “I didn’t really know what that felt like since I was in my early 20s — and even before that,” she said. “There was always someone in my life, and so many things that were out of my control.”

Despite her single status, Lopez admitted to focusing inwardly as she sought to discover a profound sense of self-worth. “I’ve gotten to the point where I really trust myself and appreciate myself a little bit more,” she concluded. “I’ve learned not to be so hard on myself and always try to prove myself.”
