Jimmy Kimmel Slams Trump for Bad Bunny Criticism on Social Media

Jimmy Kimmel took aim at President Donald Trump during his late-night show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, in response to the president’s harsh criticism of Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX halftime performance. Trump had made scathing social media comments about the Spanish-language act, dismissing it as “absolutely terrible” and an “affront to the greatness of America.” He also claimed that the show did not make sense for children.

Kimmel delivered a pointed rebuke to Trump during his monologue, highlighting the irony in such criticism. “Bad Bunny got a bad review from our bad president,” Kimmel said, pointing out that President Trump had faced controversy himself, including paying off a porn star who spanked him with her own face on a magazine cover.

Kimmel’s commentary underscored how inconsistent Trump’s critique was. He mocked the conservative alternative halftime broadcast organized by Turning Point USA featuring Kid Rock and other artists, characterizing it as less compelling than Bad Bunny’s widely viewed set that celebrated Latino identity and unity across the Americas.

The late-night host also criticized the backlash against Bad Bunny’s performance, suggesting critics were more focused on political outrage rather than appreciating its cultural significance. Kimmel’s comments generated significant discussion online about Trump’s stance and the merits of Bad Bunny’s halftime show.

Comedian Jon Stewart echoed these sentiments on The Daily Show, calling out the “pathetic” reaction to the controversy over Bad Bunny. He contrasted this with the president’s own actions and controversial remarks on other topics, emphasizing how inconsistent Trump’s criticism appeared to be when viewed through his own history of controversies.
